What is BSCA?

The British Schools Cycling Association is the body responsible for cycling related activity within the school environment. We are members of the National Council Council of Schools Sports, and support all aspects of the pastime from grass roots level to International competition, whether competitive, or non-competitive.  We are a totally volunteer run association with no paid officials.

Why doesn't ... ?

As we stated in the previous question our activity levels vary considerably across the country.  We also train considerable numbers of adults each year to look after and develop cycling activities on a local basis.  Your first contact should be to the Regional Development Officer, or otherwise an email to our General Secretary (sue.knight@bsca.org.uk )may provide you more information, about recently trained leaders, or even course details for new leaders in your area

Who is allowed to enter the events ?

Our events are usually open to our members, although you should initially contact the organiser to check details.  Championships are promoted for our members and you will be asked for membership details on entering an event. The cost of joining is small and includes a handbook which contains other useful data and loads of contacts who will be able to  encourage you into the cycling world.  An application form can be directly taken from this site and printed off

What are the Rules ?

Everything in life seems to have a set of rules and cycling is no exception.  Our rules have been kept to a minimum, so that you can learn about cycling without too much worry, but for those of you that are interested we have included them on the website for your benefit

How do I find someone to guide me into cycling?

In the first instance you will hopefully find a local BSCA qualified leader, or Coach who will endeavour to encourage you to develop your skills whilst ensuring that you have plenty of fun.  Once again you should make first contact with the BSCA Regional Development Officer and he/she should be able to guide you along those important first steps,
